DNS Settings: They’re Vital

DNS Settings: They’re Vital

DNS settings are a configuration item that is set, confirmed to work, and then not discussed further. One issue that we see occurring regularly are Guest networks that have DNS settings for internal servers. The settings shown below are how to set the global DNS settings for each interface on your firewall:

AuthPoint Policies

AuthPoint Policies

One of the newest updates in AuthPoint allows you to create policies for access. This allows you to control the type of multi-factor authentication requirements for different groups of users, based on the resource they are logging into. You can also use the policies to set priorities on logins, based on their order.

Firebox Administrator Accounts

Firebox Administrator Accounts

One of the most important steps to take when securing your firewall is to ensure logins to the device are protected. Given that all WatchGuard firewalls use the same default credentials, it is imperative that these be updated on every device before it is deployed.

Updates to WatchGuard WebBlocker in 12.4 and 12.5

WatchGuard has implemented several new features in its WebBlocker content filtering service over the last few firewall revisions. Previously, this service only allowed for two actions: Allow and Deny.  Now, WatchGuard has implemented a Warn action, as well as other options for allowing users to bypass if set with appropriate permissions.

HIPAA Compliance with WatchGuard Firewalls

Given the requirements set through HIPAA, protecting medical information is critical.  Through the WatchGuard firewall we can configure several pieces to ensure this personal data is secure.
