Policy Schedules

It is not always necessary to have a policy active at all times.  There are many scenarios that could be made more secure by turning off a policy when it is not needed.  As an example, if you have a policy that allows a vendor or contractor access into an internal system, you may want to turn the policy off after-hours.  You may also want to turn off guest network policies after-hours.  To do this, you can implement a schedule onto your policies.

Schedules allow you to set the day of the week and time of day that you would like a policy to be active.  You can create multiple schedules to suit your needs.

Creating a Schedule

  • Setup > Actions > Schedules > Add

  • Add a clear schedule name

  • Select the mode of one hour, 30 minutes or 15 minutes

  • Click the boxes for days/times that you want the policy to be off. (A white box indicates the policy will be inactive at that time.)

Edit Schedule with name, dates and times.
  • Click OK to save the schedule

Adding a Schedule to a Policy

  • Open the policy you want to add a schedule to

  • Select the Advanced tab

  • Select the appropriate schedule

New Policy Properties with advanced tab selected
  • Click OK to save the policy change

  • Make sure to save changes to your firewall
